turn of phrase

Because I think that "furthest corners of the globe" is a rather delightful non-sequitur, I really want to use it in an article that I'm writing at work.
Unfortunately it's hard to wink while writing straight-ahead copy, which means that if I were to indulge in this particular flight of whimsy, it would just look like bad writing.
Can't people take for granted the fact that I know what I'm doing?
